Die Ceide Fields im Norden Mayos sind bekannt dafür, daß hier die Spuren uralter Besiedlung ausgegraben wurden. Deutlich neuer als das großartige Besucherzentrum ist diese Schutzmantel-Maria an einem der Zufahrtswege. 2012 wurde das Grotto erbaut. Ausführlich erklärt eine Inschrift, warum:
This Grotto was erected and blessed in 2012 in honour of the most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit and Mary the Mother of Jesus.
The Shrine is dedicated to the memory of our beloved dead who tragically lost their lives along this stretch of costline. May God grant them eternal happiness and may their souls and all the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.
